Madrid, “uncomfortable” with Reinier’s situation in Dortmund

Real Madrid have a major problem with the situation of Reinier Jesús at Borussia Dortmund. The Brazilian player came to the German club on loan for two seasons in August 2020 after Madrid signed him from Flamengo in exchange for 30 million euros.

The midfielder and the white club valued Dortmund’s option for its ability to polish and project promising youngsters, but instead Reinier has only found ostracism at Borussia, where he has barely had opportunities in season and a half. This situation has caused the player and Madrid to be weighing the option of breaking the loan and looking for a new destination.

Mauro Brasilia, the player’s father, has charged harshly against Borussia in an interview with the newspaper As. “The club has not supported Reinier. If there is no affection, it is impossible,” asserts the father. “In the first season they said that he was not at the level of his teammates physically and tactically, but now there are no excuses,” continues Brasilia.

“He fights against things he does not understand, he will come out stronger from here,” says the father, hurt by the criticism of his son for his performance against Sporting de Portugal, a duel in which he started and Dortmund was eliminated from the Champions League. “For a game that he plays they put the spotlight on him. Borussia has not prepared him for the important moments,” said Brasilia, adding: “We never ask for ownership, but we do ask for minutes.”

“Madrid is very correct and the situation makes him uncomfortable, but he cannot do anything,” laments the father. “The plan was two years on loan to see how he performed in order to return to Madrid, but now it is more complicated,” he says about the opinion of the white club. “The ideal scenario is to return to Spain, we are trying but Borussia did not want to break the loan last year and I think that now they will not want to either,” laments the father.
