Goal annulled to Asensio in minute 81′
The VAR intervenes for the Balearic Islands’ offside
Marco Asensio after seeing how his goal was disallowed due to an offside position.
Real Madrid was left with the desire after celebrating Asensio’s goal in the 81st minute. After a review of a couple of minutes, the VAR has determined that the Balearic winger was slightly ahead of Carvajal’s pass.
The play was born in a transition down the right wing led by Rodrygo and Vinicius, the ball ended up on the right for the arrival of Carvajal and the full-back put in a low cross that only had to push Asensio into the back of the net.
The Madrid players have celebrated the goal effusively because the linesman did not see Asensio’s illegal position at the time of the pass.
The replay revealed that there was indeed an offside but the VAR took several minutes to draw the lines and finally de Burgos Bengoetxea was warned of the position of the Spaniard and the goal did not go up on the scoreboard.
