Brexit eliminates any option for Bale in Madrid

Yesterday Wednesday the representative of Gareth Bale, Jonathan Barnett, hinted that the Welshman is happy in the Real Madrid and that you would like to continue in the target from next June 30, date that his contract with the white club ends.

Something that is impossible due to two key conditions. The first, and as we have been counting in the Sports World, is his salary within the squad. Right now he is the highest paid player in the squad with 14.5 million euros net (about 29 million euros gross). Money that does not respond to the profitability of the Welsh player.

The data for this season are conclusive. Bale has only played 193 minutes of the season with the white jersey so far in three league games against Alavés (68), Levante (59) and Betis (66). The last one was against the Verdiblanco club on August 28 at Villamarín. Next Sunday will be three months from the last day. Since then he has only played 45 minutes and was with Wales.

There are two devastating facts. The Welsh player has not yet made his debut in this edition of the Champions League where only one last date of the group stage remains to be played. And another even more forceful. Bale has not yet played at the Santiago Bernabéu in the return of the white team to their stadium. Something that occurred on September 12. The day before, Bale was injured in the session that was held precisely in the same stadium.

But there is a second condition that is even more devastating. Gareth Bale will lose his community status on June 30, which he has maintained since his arrival at Real Madrid and, exceptionally, from January 1, 2021. Date on which Brexit entered into force, by which the United Kingdom ceases to be part of the European Union.

A condition with an expiration date

The Spanish League, in coordination with AFE and RFEF, agreed that British players would maintain their community status last season 2020-2021 despite Brexit coming into force in the middle of it. A condition that the three European football organizations have expanded, with the authorization of the CSD, for this 2021-2022 season. But this situation has a deadline. It will be June 30, 2022, the same day that Bale’s contract ends.

In other words, as of July 1, Bale would occupy one of the three non-community positions currently held by Militao, Vinicius and Rodrygo.

Real Madrid is working on nationalizing one of its three Brazilians, starting with Vinicius. But in no case would he use the place that the Brazilian would leave free for Bale. The Welsh has an expiration date on June 30.
