Bayern, without pressure but with ambition to beat Barça

“From a Bavarian, Polish and German point of view, the awarding of the Ballon d’Or was a profound disappointment for me. It is a great motivation for the Champions League match against Barcelona ”, stated Thomas Müller days ago, in reference to the award given to Leo Messi ahead of Robert Lewandowski just a week ago. “Messi, Messi …” the fans chanted of Dortmund the day before yesterday, in the German ‘Der Klassiker’, to irritate the Polish striker. As if Barça, where Leo no longer plays, were to blame, it seems that the award has been an extra motivation for Bayern against a Barça that apparently is far from being able to compete with the Bavarian champion, who nevertheless prefers the Catalans outside of the Champions League.

Müller’s winning attitude, which exhibits everything less compassion, it is a priori the same of all Bayern. In the Munich club it is considered that it is a sign of respect for the rival and for the competition to go out to win any game in any circumstance, regardless of whether Nagelsmann gives a break to any of its regular holders.

The Bavarian team does not walk very effective, with injuries such as Sabitzer, Lucas Hernández (substituted against Dortmund with a sprained ankle, although Nagelsmann played it down), Kimmich (with coronavirus), Stanisic, Sarr or the young French Cuisance, out since August. Gnabry, who played the last 25 minutes against Dortmund, is doubtful.

Bayern wait for Barça with the duties done in the Champions League and also in the Bundesliga, after their triumph against Borussia Dortmund, which consolidates the leadership of the muniqueses. Despite not playing anything against the Catalans, the figures give Bayern the status of favorites. They have no pressure, but they do have ambition.

Bayern has 79 goals so far this season, with 22 games, in front of the 25 of the Barça in 20 meetings. Of those 79 goals, 27 are signed by Lewandovski, two more than all of Barça. The Bavarians will come out with the will to make those predictions good, while Barça seeks to vindicate itself
