Despite a statistically successful season, Cristiano Ronaldo does not even appear in the Top 5 of the Ballon d’Or.
His status as top scorer in Serie A or his goalscoring records at the Euro as well as with a selection did not convince this time. Plagued by the difficulties of Juventus and then Manchester United and the premature elimination of Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo could not join in the fight for the Ballon d’Or.

Worse, the Mancunian player, five-time winner of the trophy, finished outside the Top 5. With only 178 points, the native of Funchal had to be content with a sixth place, thus overtaken by Lionel messi and Robert lewandowski, but also Jorginho, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté.
The poor performance is historic for CR7 which had not appeared outside the Top 5 of the Ballon d’Or since the 2010 edition. He also finished in sixth place, this time ahead of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi , Wesley Sneijder and Diego Forlan.
