Fall Champion … It’s always taken!
The remarks made by Lionel Messi after winning the Ballon d’Or seem tinged with a beautiful hypocrisy …
Lionel Messi knew what to expect when he received the seventh Ballon d’Or of his career. The immense controversy triggered by his coronation at the expense of Robert Lewandowski was indeed foreseeable given the Pole’s service record in 2021. The former Barcelona man has undoubtedly tried to answer it by having a very special thought. for the Bavarian striker when receiving his trophy.
” Robert, I know you couldn’t win this trophy last year, partly because of the pandemic, launched the now seven-time winner. But I want to stress that you deserved to win it, because what you have been doing for several months is exceptional. I hope we will give you a trophy that you can keep at home because, once again, you deserve it.“
The Argentinian’s attention to his rival is nevertheless something to smile about. Blame it on his vote for the “The Best” Trophy, which had been maintained by FIFA. Because despite the quintuplet succeeded by Bayern Munich with the culmination of his coronation in the Champions League and the individual statistics of Robert Lewandowski, who was already the most prolific scorer in Europe in 2020, the former Barcelona had given his first choice to Neymar and his second to Kylian Mbappé, the Pole only appearing in third position. His vote for 2021 is obviously awaited with some impatience.
